According to an industry representative from the Scandinavian nations, Norwegians are suffering of ‘bingo fever’.

Voices from Norsk Bingo AS, have suggested that the numbers show the game is enjoyed by many people in this country.

This comments come one week after Ravi Virpal, director of Bullet Business, the company that organizes the UK-based Online Bingo Summit in London, claimed that bingo has "grown in the national conscience" of Britons over the last few years.

A Norfolk woman has raised more than £20,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and she is looking to enlarge that amount with a bingo night. The Fakenham Times reports that Sharon Moore wants to go over the £25,000 hosting a bingo night in North Elmham.

Moore, a native from Great Ryburgh, has been collecting money for this good cause over the last eight years since someone she knew was diagnosed with the condition. Eyes down for the special bingo event.

Rank optimistic about bingo business

Bingo operator Rank Group has showed signs of optimism as bingo and casino business seem to be growing after twelve difficult months. Also, the company is pleased with changes to come concerning gaming regulations and VAT rulings. Revenue in Grosvenor Casino grew 14 per cent while revenue in Mecca Bingo went up 2 per cent, compared with 2007.

Last year, Rank suffered the effects of the smoking ban and the Gambling Act, and revenues went down 8 per cent in one year.

Spain: players spend 416 Euros per year at the Bingo

According to a study released recently, the Spanish players spend 416 Euros in average per year playing Bingo, Slots and other Casino Games. The study was made by the Internal Affairs Ministry of Spain and is based on data collected during 2007.

The average spend in these games varies according to the region of Spain that we are looking at. In top of the chart ranks the region of Baleares with 541 Euros per person.

Art Deco Bingo Hall dilemma

Over 300 letters were sent by neighbours of the Art Deco Bingo Hall in Hove, over to the builders of the Downland Housing Assosiation. The letters objected the conversion of the Gala Bingo hall (which has been closed for three years) into 38 apartments and a surgical intervention establishment.

The chairman for the area’s association said that: “I’m disappointed the developers would not consult with neighbours before a new application is submitted."

Charities win big with bingo

Several Canadian charities have been benefited by a program that allows them to volunteer their time at a bingo center in exchange for a percentage of the profits. This week, the charities that took part in the program over the past year received a cheque for $1.448.972 from the hands of Barrie MPP Aileen Carroll.

“I want to thank the volunteers because the result of your work and the impact your work has on so many charities here in Barrie is astounding,” Carroll said during the ceremony.
