Bingo Halls closing in Mississippi

Sonny Weathersby, head of the Mississippi Gaming Commission, recently declared that, for the moment, four bingo halls in Mississippi that were located on the Gulf Coast have decided not to renew their licenses.

After all, Hurricane Katrina damaged and destroyed 25 bingo halls on the Gulf Coast. So, this year, if you are looking for a bingo hall on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, you may find some trouble finding one, since many other bingo halls might close too later on.

However, the Mississippi Gaming Commission is trying to make things easier for bingo halls managers by allowing them to operate in a different location from the one listed on their licenses.

As Jerry St.Pe, chairman of this commission declared, “bingo is a significant recreational opportunity for a large number of people on the Gulf Coast, not to mention a fund-raising effort.”
