Gaming opportunities may be increased at Penobscot Indian Nation's Sockalexis Bingo Palace if bingo officials see a significant increase in interest with the arrival of slot machines a few miles away.

Although no decision has been made, General Manager Miles Francis said Friday that staff are doing an in-house feasibility study and will continue to explore the option of increasing the number of bingo events from seven to possibly 12 a year.

The director of the state Gaming Division -- Keith Lauer -- says state law allows anyone under 18 to play bingo if accompanied by an adult. Lauer says children are required to file a federal tax return if they win $1,200 or more.

Prairie Public Broadcasting's Dakota Skies bingo parlor is the only one in Bismarck. Prairie Public Vice President Don Berg says the age limit was lowered from 16 to ten for bingo players after a state smoking ban took effect, to make it more of a family atmosphere.

Bingo is coming to Princes Street, Scotland's premier thoroughfare. An English-based leisure firm is to open an adult gaming centre and tanning studio close to Edinburgh's west end with "Housey-Housey" sessions as part of the entertainment.
Tyne and Wear-based Matchurban has successfully applied to Edinburgh City Council for a public entertainment licence for the property where a wide range of gaming machines will be set up on the ground floor and basement along with bingo.

One of the first things Shippensburg Lions Club member Earl Nollenberger will tell you about bingo is that the people who play are almost as dedicated as he is.

Nollenberger, 55, who has been organizing the Lions Club bingo tent at the Shippensburg Community Fair for the past decade, explains the purpose of bingo is twofold. "We're here to have some fun and provide some entertainment," says Nollenberger, "but we also raise a lot of money for our charities."

A professor of biology at Shippensburg University for 32 years, Nollenberger takes a guess at why the bingo tent is so popular, "I guess it's just a great place to sit down and relax without spending a lot of money"...

World Bingo League changes name

World Bingo League Co. Inc. (NASDAQ PINK SHEETS:WBLG), a Nevada company headquartered in Vancouver, announced plans to broaden its mandate to develop software to include other Internet games rather than exclusively focus on Bingo.

As part of its new mandate, President Louis Dion also announced the company's name change to World Entertainment Corp. - better reflecting the company's expanded interests.
